If you’re looking for a romantic and fresh getaway with temperate climate to hide from the heat of tropical cities, Da Lat will always be a perfect option which never disappoints you. The highland city is covered with lush pine forests, many romantic yet tranquil lakes and colorful flowers making it a worthy destination to visit. Endowed with all – year – round cool, mild weather despite a slight rise in the temperate during summer months from May to August, the city can be visited at any time of the year. Therefore, the best time to come merely depends on you!
The whole area has two main seasons: dry and rainy which features different winning-points to attract tourists.
Dry Season: December to March
To be specific, dry season, from December to March, is the best time to visit Da Lat when roads are brightened with flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums, apricot flower, carnation flower blossom everywhere creating and vibrant atmosphere. This is also the time the city hosts a lot of cultural activities, in which Da Lat Flower Festival (held every two years) is the most interesting one. In addition, the stunning beauty of wild sunflowers blooming from October to December is always an unlimited inspiration source for photographers. During this time, the temperature drops to its lowest point but still comfortable. Tourists are advised to wear warm clothes to avoid getting cold.
Rainy Season: May to August
In rainy season which usually lasts from May to August, the city does get very congested because it is also the peak season for domestic tourism when a lot of Vietnamese tourists, especially from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City come to Da Lat to look for a summer escape. During this period, Da Lat is filled with purple flamboyant flowers blooming in many corners of the city. However, due to frequent rains, you’d better to stay inside to enjoy a cup of hot coffee and avoid outdoor activities. If you plan to go outside, make sure to bring along raincoats and umbrella.
