1. Spring from March to May: Mild temperature, little rain:
Spring could be the best time to come thanks to the most pleasant weather in Halong. The temperature is mild at 18-24°C and the rainfall is at the average level, mainly in March and less in April and May. If you are active and crave outdoor activities such as climbing mountains, visiting caves, kayaking, or cycling on the island in the bay, March to May is the golden time.
***Tips: Avoid some national holidays if you do not like the crowds and peak-season surcharge such as 10 March (Hung King Festival), 30 April (Reunification Day), and 1 May (International Labor Day).
2. Summer from June to September: Hot, stormy, cost-saving:
Lots of sunshine, hot, and high humidity can be said about summer in Halong. This time brings blue sky and emerald ocean, ideal for sightseeing and photo hunting. The average temperature ranges from 29 to 32°C, suitable for you to jump into the cool sea or join water activities. There will be a flux of domestic travelers during summer.
More shower rains come but leave quickly and the sky will be clearer soon. Last but not least, chances for storms are higher, especially in July and August. That’s why you may see lots of super-saving tours during this time. Keeping updated with the weather and hunting the best deal for Halong adventure would never be a bad idea.

3. Autumn from October to December: Cool, festive, high-season:
Lower temperature (23 - 27°C), low humidity, lowest rainfall, and no chance of storms make Autumn another ideal time for exploring Halong. This is the peak season for foreign travelers with some holidays such as Christmas, New Year, etc. Late November to December is a bit chilly and not favorable for swimming, but other outdoor activities such as kayaking and mountain hiking are still the highlights.
***Tip: Book the trip early in advance on Christmas and New Year to make sure of the availability and expect a holiday surcharge for some themed parties.
4. Winter from January to February: Cold, mystical:
These are the coldest months of the year in Halong. The temperature is between 13 and 20°C. It is usually cloudy and sometimes foggy in the early morning, creating a mystical beauty that can be seen in no other seasons. The mist will clear by mid-morning and you may see light sunshine in the daytime.
