Ho Chi Minh City / Embarkation (L / D)
Arrive in Saigon port for an extraordinary journey through Mekong Delta with the RV Mekong Princess at around midday. Enjoy a hearty lunch. Check in your luxurious suite and enjoy magnificent sceneries. Anchor in the heart of Mekong Delta in the late afternoon and enjoy great cocktails while watching sunset. Dinner included
Ben Tre / Tra On (B / L / D)
Enjoy morning coffee and experience the hustle and bustle of delta river life. After breakfast, get on a traditional sampan to explore narrow canals and backwaters of the region. The cruise takes you through thousands of mangroves and Nipah Palm plantations to visit the hand-crafted coconut candy-makers. Follow narrow paths to meet locals. Take ‘Tuk Tuk’ for a ride through the plantations en route to the exotic tropical fruit farms. You can enjoy great tropical fruits there before returning to the Mekong Princess. Lunch will be served onboard. In the afternoon, you will visit Phuoc Hau pagoda and have chance to explore how the locals make products from water hyacinth, a fast growing free-floating plant in the Mekong Delta
Can Tho / Thot Not (B / L / D)
You wake up early to enjoy tea/ coffee and then transfer to Cai Rang floating market by a local riverboat. Take great photos and enjoy the hectic atmosphere of the market. Continue a short cruise to nearby rice noodle factory where you can learn about noodle making. Return Mekong Princess for lunch. In the afternoon, arrive at Thot Not village and climb aboard a ‘Lambro 555’ passing through the village to hear the cacophony of sound at a tropical bird sanctuary. Back to RV Mekong Princess for sunset cocktails and dinner onboard followed by a local village entertainment show
Gieng Island (B / L / D)
After morning tea/ coffee, continue to take local riverboats to Gieng Island where you wander to nearby village and explore how classic and traditional oriental sampan boats are made. Next, travel a short distance along the canal to reach duck farms, monkey bridges and tropical orchards. Have a fresh experience on “xe loi”, (motorized trishaw) to visit the local Catholic Church. In the afternoon, the sampans take you to Thot Not village for a visit of a bird sanctuary. From here, an incredible view over the treetops and down on the nesting area of a variety of protected birds paid off. At night, enjoy a local entertainment show onboard soon after dinner
Hong Ngu / Border Crossing (B / L / D)
This morning, you visit the remote island village of Hong Ngu, 15km from the Vietnam-Cambodia border. The village produces an abundance of traditional Khmer scarves to be exported to Cambodia. Timber homes there are built of stilts to avoid flooding in the wet season. Meet some villagers also embroidery artists who display their art on the balconies of their homes. We also enter a local temple called Hoa Dao during the time here. Back to the RV Mekong Princess and cross the border into Cambodia. Continue to cruise onwards towards our overnight anchorage. Enjoy sunset cocktails before a hearty dinner of Western-Oriental cuisine is provided for your pleasure
Phnonpenh (B / L / D)
Today you join a city tour around Phnom Penh by our cyclo drivers. The tour kicks off with visit to Royal Palace then Move to the second section of the complex that you can stroll amongst enormous stupas and spirit houses on the way to the famous Silver Pagoda, home of Cambodia’s Emerald Buddha and Maitreya Buddha. After a short break, explore National Museum and have lunch in a local restaurant. Walk along the quay or visit some of Phnom Penh’s famous markets. This afternoon, move out the city to visit Choeung Ek (‘the Killing Fields’). On the way back to Phnom Penh, stop by Tuol Sleng (infamously known as S-21) which was converted from a large school to a prison by the Khmer Rouge. Before dinner, enjoy a cultural performance including Apsara, Cambodia’s national dance as well as several traditional folk dances which are performed by orphanage children
Angkor Ban (B / L / D)
Today, visit Angkor Ban, a charming town which offers you an insight into the locals’ lives, starting with a visit to a family’s home to witness their lifestyle. Walk leisurely through the village to a local school where you can take personal contact, conversations with students their and experience a typical day of study in rural Cambodia
Kampong Cham / Disembarkation (B)
Enjoy breakfast before disembark and say farewell to your ship crew. Continue to follow the road from Kampong Cham river port to Siem Reap. Trip ends
