Kampong Cham / Embarkation (L / D)
This morning, you need to wake up early to transfer from Siem Reap to Kampong Cham by motor-coach. After that, embark on the RV Mekong Princess for lunch. Free at the rest of the afternoon. Enjoy a Welcome Reception and Cambodian Welcome Dinner on board
Angkor Ban (B / L / D)
Today, you will have an excursion to the charming town of Angkor Ban. The visit offers you a glimpse into the locals’ lives via visiting a family’s home, meet local people and discuss their lifestyle. Next, continue to visit a local school where you can meet children and join their classroom for a fresh experience of what their typical school day is like. Back to the ship and take great photos along the way including a brief stop at the local monastery complex
Phnompenh (B / L / D)
This morning, join a city tour around Phnom Penh by cyclo to visit Royal Palace, the famous Silver Pagoda and National Museum. After a long ride, have lunch at a local restaurant, walk along the quay or visit some of Phnom Penh’s famous markets. In the afternoon, take a scenic 45-minute drive to Choeung Ek (‘the Killing Fields’) where you can walk through the fields, visit the small museum and Memorial Stupa and learn more about the atrocities committed during the Khmer Rouge regime. On the way back to Phnom Penh, stop by Tuol Sleng (infamously known as S-21) which was converted from a large school to a prison by the Khmer Rouge. Enjoy a cultural performance including Apsara and several traditional folk dances which are performed by orphanage children before dinner
Border Crossing / Hong Ngu / Gieng Island (B / L / D)
This morning, the MV Mekong Princess will process through immigration and customs, cross the border into Vietnam, and continue downstream to Hong Ngu. Get on sampans to reach the isolated island village of Hong Ngu. The village produces a large number of Khmer scarves for exporting to Cambodia. In the afternoon, your sampans return to take you into Gieng Island. Join a short walking tour around the village to explore how hundreds of sampans are produced daily by local families. Then take a canal drive to explore the untouched floating area with duck farms, monkey bridges and tropical orchards along the riverside. Try an entirely fresh experience on “xe loi” (motor trishaw) to visit a Catholic Church which is similar to the Notre Dame Cathdral in Saigon, back to 1870s
Thot Not (B / L / D)
This morning, head to village of Thot Not where you will get on a ‘Lambro 555’ for a trip to the village with cacophony of a bird sanctuary. After a short excursion around the sanctuary, follow steps up to the viewing platform where incredible view over the treetops and down on the nesting area of a variety of protected birds paid off. Afterwards, the ship sails downstream and docks at Ninh Kieu Wharf, Can Tho City, one of the most beautiful riverside cities on the Bassac River
Can Tho / Tra On (B / L / D)
The sampans bring you back early this morning for another cruise on the fascinating Cai Rang floating market near Can Tho. Don’t forget to take amazing photos while savoring the Vietnamese ‘anti-aging drink’, ‘fresh coconut water’. After that, stop to visit a local factory to explore how instant noodles are processed. After one final pass through the market, return to the ship for breakfast. Continue passing an area of the Mekong Delta to reach your afternoon destinations including Phuoc Hau historic pagoda and a local handicraft village and families
Ben Tre (B / L / D)
This morning, you will sails through a mangroves-lined channel to visit a local coconut candy maker. From there, you will have chance to see coconut candy-making process and wander leisurely through the family’s orchard. Afterwards, get on a small, local boat riding for 15 mins to a pier for a trip through the narrow creeks lined with Nipah palm before returning to the ship
Ho Chi Minh City / Disembarkation (B)
After breakfast, make your own way from Saigon Port to the airport or Saigon hotel. Trip ends
